Julie has written or edited twelve books, the three most recent of which – “Going Public”, “The New Lawyer” and “Islamic Divorce in North America” – are linked here.
Julie’s books are animated by her research on contemporary issues that she believes require more exploration and deeper questioning. Julie has worked as a researcher for almost 40 years, focusing on personal intervews and focus groups, because she believes that is the best way to understand people’s lived experiences.
Julie had won awards for her academic writing but her three most recent books are known for their clarity and accessibility – they are written to be read by anyone interested in the subject. Each of these three books uses the many stories of people’s experiences that Julie has collected in the course of her research; and in “Going Public”, her own experiences too.
